Yeah, I really should start working out. Previous posts have been informative but yeah, females aren't built like guys. Any pointers, suggestions, etc. for stuff I could/should do/look into? I'm kinda tired of being a weakling...and yeah, I know nothing about this kind of stuff.

The only thing I've heard different for females is in general reducing weight, reps, paces, distances and what not. I think that's horse hockey since all that should be relative to someone's capabilities. Plus, girls should have to do more push ups since you guys have shock absorbers attached to your chests...

Well, women have to really work on cardio, some exercises. I would try to build your arms, chest and legs, women have good hip strength, so those are some things.

One general rule for lifting weights.
Less reps with higher resistance builds muscle.
More reps with lower resistance tones and tightens muscles.
You should think more on toning your muscles rather than building them. Try doing fifty reps with ten pound free-weights. You mentioned to me before your wrists were an issue. You should build yourself a wrist roller to help with that. Those things work miracles on your wrists and forearms, which help a lot with archery.
Cardio is good for anyone. Do squat-thrusts and jogging. Religiously hit practices and fight hard.
I would, one again, like to point out, I really would like a workout buddy. I can't motivate myself to do it on my own.

Lloyd, remind me to smack you next time I see you. Q, I'm debating if you've got one coming your way. My "shock asborbs" aren't going to help me much in that department, sad to say. And we build slightly different. We tend to have more natural lower body strength where as guys haev more natural upper body strength or something like that. Anywho, if it wasn't different, then there would be no "Women of Ninja Warrior". HA! Ironside, yeah, same here. I have two free gym memberships and no desire to use either of them. Honestly, I'd rather help someone move or do something productive than go to the gym alone. (what's reps?) What is this wrist roller of which you speak? Guess main thing is I guess I really don't know where to start. I honestly really haven't worked out since high school. I'll go for walks, walk the dog, walk the toddler....running after her is a new and good exercise...walk to campus. Used to roller blade and shoot a little b-ball, but that's been years. And yeah, as Ironside mentioned, I have a bad left wrist plus a kinda bad left shoulder (whiplash sucks!). I haven't really had the time or the motivation to start things on my own but with school winding down, I will certainly have more time, I just don't really know where to start with my lack of liking gyms and general exercise knowledge. I actually used to do a lot of situps and pushups....maybe that and my yoga DVD would be good places to start. Maybe steal my sister's Wii over the summer, too.

Reps means lifting the weight once.
A wrist roller is a weight attached to a handle attached to a string. You roll the handle and wrap the string which lifts the weight.

one of the reason I have told you about these is so you do not have to have weight, get good at these first then add the weights in, less chance for you to hurt yourself that way

Yeah, I didn't think about that. Gaining weight right now would be BAD! I'm getting fitting for yet another bridesmaid dress this weekend. After that, I have to stay the same size...well for a few weeks.

Two cents.
There's no reason you had to do that in multiple posts. You could of edited the original to add into it.
Wren, follow that routine and you WILL hurt yourself. That's WAY too much stuff to do for starting out. A quarter of that would be a heavy workout. You have to start light and ease into a stricter routine. You can't just jump into and do something like that. You'd be begging for a serious injury.

Actually, if I start off with Dracken's entire routine, I will kill myself before completely one week. HOLY SHIT! I haven't done anything near that.....maybe ever.
Going to Wilhelm's thing.....and my comment after that.....what's the best stuff that will build muscle and all that without changing my shape? Like I said, I'm in a wedding in like 3 weeks and I'm getting the dress alterations done hopefully Saturday so after that I can't change the size or really anything.....bigger or smaller.....cept my arms until after the wedding or my cousin will probably kill me, but in a loving kind of way. LOL.
So far I've been walking. Walked to campus and back three times yesterday. Went again today too....well once.
