As we currently all know, Rhinohiders are a big issue in our realm. A certain few people (we know who they are) constantly fail to take their hits or call things like "light, garb, downsword, hand" etc.
I believe we should do the following to remedy this issue with rhinohiders:
Heralding Test
We take two of our most experienced fighters who we KNOW are very honorable. In here is a qualified herald and the herald testee. The two fighters begin fighting. As they go on, they become less and less honorable. From not calling "light/garb/etc" to blatantly not taking their shots at all.
It's the testee's job to herald this match and call them on shots they're not taking, respectively calling when they need to take arm/leg/etc to various other things. (Example: Kracken hits Lloyd in the leg. Lloyd takes an arm.) We'll also have the fighters argue with the herald's calls to see how they do with enforcement under pressure.
After the test is over (say, 10 or 15 fights), the expeirenced herald will evaluate the calls of the testee. If they seem to make the grade, they're presented with a yellow tabard.
Three-Strike Rule
Three strikes, you're out. You know how it works in baseball. I think we should apply this to the field. Here's an example senario:
Waffle gets a clearly legit wrapshot on Brooder's back. Brooder, however, does not take the hit. The herald calls Brooder, in turn, argues with the herald. The herald would then call "Brooder, you're dead! Strike one!"
Frozgaar clearly hit Templar in the knee. Templar is fighting downsword. However, the herald hears no call of downsword and sees Templar continue to fight. When the herald calls Templar as legged, he argues with the herald, saying it was downsword. When the herald asks Frozgaar if he called downsword, he replied with a 'No.' Herald responds "Templar, you're dead! Strike one!"
After three strikes in a single practice (or perhaps a month?) the fighter in question is banned from the following practice. If it happens again (three strikes in the allowed period) the fighter is banned from a month of practice. If it happens a third time in the allowed period (lets say, you get three sets of three strikes in a year) and that fighter is banned from practice for the rest of the event.
The general idea is such. Argue with a herald, get a strike. get three strikes in a month, get punished. Do this three times in a season, get severely punished.
I really like the idea. It's a little pathetic how a chunk of our fighters have very little honor. Enforcing this would promote our fighters either practicing honor, or getting the hell out of our realm.
