hey guys, iv'e been scouting some websites and lookin at different builds for light weight swords. i think This is gonna be my next project. im gonna build a minimum weight blue (with solid fiberglass core). i was wondering what dimensions i should go for involving handle, blade, and pommel length. Oh, and how many layers of foam on what side and how thick i should make it. Keep in mind, im not tryin to make a brick here. im goin for speed, reach, and maneuverability. thank you guys a bunch! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Ill look into it. thanks ironside. i just need the demonstrations now. like length of handle, blade and pommel. thats where im having trouble. i either make em to long, or i make the handle too long and end up having to add blade to it making it heavier. and then there are the green tips, which im not even going to start on untill i can make a decent blue.

for a 12 ounce sword out of 3/8 the most your gona get is like 24-27 inches n thats being generous. if you want light weight then you have to spend some extra cash on kite spar.( go .606) your newer so light weight shit isnt good for you if you wana keep at this. build your muscles and then use light weapons and shields. plus you dont wana mess up kite spar when 64 inches costs 9-10 bucks. so your best bet would be to "acquire" something thinker than 3/8. and build on that. ill give you an 8' rod of thicker shit at practice if your there.

Faceshots happen. Over time, you'll throw less and less of them as you get used to your body mechanics and understand the best ways to throw shots.

If you're getting your fiberglass from farm and fleet look around the aisle for brace pins. They're usually sold in packs of 5 and they're 5" big. If you're making a 25" sword out of 3/8 fiberglass throw two of those on the handle with some liquid nails and a good amount of strap tape. That will give you a good handle, some counter weight and it should come out between 12-14 ounces.

Yeah, old way is difficult and breaks down really fast. Cheap new way is to use the rubbery ass pads from the hunting section at farm and fleet. It basically just needs to be cut to size and either spray glued on or carpet taped. Then just secured down with hockey tape.
