I would like to point out, I'm namely pushing for Kaptains for: A) I thought squad fights was an amazing idea B) Kaptain is between Kovnik and Kommandant in the Warmachine book, of which, we have Kommandant and Kovnik, but no Kaptain. C) Superhero jokes Kaptain Requirements 1 Season as Kovnik Good leadership and teamwork understanding Must be nominated by ruling officers. Kaptain Benefits Command of a Squad. Semi-Officer Status. Ability to attend and speak at officer meetings. The idea awhile ago was that for every 15 some regular members of the realm we'd add a kommandant to help keep field control. Hasn't really been an issue. If you guys are getting bored though we can add another rank. As for the requirements, quoting from above, Season as Kovnik. Good leadership and teamwork understanding. If it's just another rank it should be their own digression. People can say "Hey, you should try out for this." and whatnot but we don't need to nominate everyone. Lets call it a "review". Should also require a whole new trial which should come down to a pass/fail grade. Demonstration of good leadership and teamwork? I'd say as some of the perks of being a Kaptian: Lead a squad in squad fights. Continue fighting with the same person in random spawn games. ie. teams of something regen, you can chose your team. I wouldn't call it a semi-officer rank, but you can definitely cock-the-walk at this point.

Sounds like a plan to me. The trial would be something of a pain to figure out. I would suggest something squad-related. Such as, you have to take command of a small squad versus a larger group of fighters. Something where good leadership really could make or break the fight.

i second the idea of a trial for Kaptain being a smaller squad v a large one, dependant upon however many people are at the practice, we would also have to divide it so its at least doable for example there are 20 people at practice, the
Kaptain hand picks 4 others besides himself
One Ranking member(Non- Officer), 3 non-ranked Khadorian fighters, against the rest?
Example might be If I were to take the trial
Myself Ranking Non-Officer (Q or Froz) 3 Non-ranked members 1. Bluff 2. Geezer 3. Dracken
Vs. Kracken Lloyd Ironside Everyone Else

I was thinking about the importance of adding a test of knowledge to the trial to become kaptain. The quiz could be taken either verbally or it could be on paper. The questions would be mostly on the rules but could also include realm duties, foamsmithing knowledge, battle strategy, teamwork/leadership, and other belegarth related questions.
This should be necessary to become a kaptain to insure they have enough knowledge to be a leader in the realm.

Hm. I like the pop quiz idea. Waffle, your idea sounds pretty sound. Small squad versus many, where leadership can really turn the tide.

What I'm thinkin for the trial;
Three stages: Fox and hounds, 2vs1 Fox and hounds, 6vs3 Kaptain game, you and four or five guys vs the world. Person taking the trial can't use equipment, just shout orders.
Competely up for discussion, as I came up with that after three of four rounds. Was thinking there should be a part in there where the dude has to carry someone through the course Ranger style.

I like the idea of the Kaptain game....but then again, I still need more education on all this stuff, but yeah, I like it. Assuming for the 2x1 and the 6x3 the person on trial would be on the lower numbered teams? Also, for the Kaptain game, does the person on trial get to pick his team?

(or world) Five armed fighters plus the Kaptain. Kaptain is unarmed (or dagger only). Fighters work by Kaptain's command. If Kaptain dies, game over. I would also say, test one would be a trial of personal skill. Test two would be how well the hopeful Kaptain works with teammates. Test three would be the ultimate challenge of his battlefield tactics and ability to work as a team. I would also like to propose Kaptains gain rights to issue commands to fighters during realm battles at events, should one of the primary commanders (IE, Kracken or Brooder) is not present.

Again, I may not really have anyplace in this, but I kinda want to object to the game over if Kaptain dies in Kaptain Game. He'd be a prime target and being unarmored or barely armored....yeah, that just doesn't quite seem right. Perhaps if like 2 out of the 5 fighters and the Kaptain dies, but maybe not just if he does. Although if he does, duh the game would have to end cause well, it's the Kaptain Game for a reason. Maybe if stick with that, give it more than one try before calling that part of the trial quits, perhaps?

I propose this: a leader is nothing without his team. The Kaptain is armed with a dagger only and is not a valid target until his entire team has been killed. Up to that point, he only issues commands.

Ironside: that last bit. I like that. @kara: no. to everything. Q: he's the guy shouting orders. FUCK yes game over if he dies. 1. because it's his/her test. 2. if you're on a field of 300 fighters, your prime target is always going to be the loudest dude out there.
