This is what I had in mind for the sword I wanted to make. img40.imageshack.us/i/kukridesign.jpg/I know there's probably gonna be a lot of "WTF's" but thats why im posting.. any suggestions, comments, negatives? Also, for the handle, I do want it to be curved abit, kind of like the sword marked C in the following link. But seeing as how the core is gonna be straight ((hopefully fiberglass)) I don't know how i'll obtain that curve unless I foam it... and if that's the case... how is foam for a handle? www.twilightarmory.com/images/twilight/weapons/swords/med6.jpg

Pointed tips don't pass. They have to fit easily inside of a 2.5 inch diameter hole. Otherwise, it's fine. How to make that curve? I don't know.

well, it was a rough design, it won't be pointed when i'm done with and thanks for reminding me about the pointed edge.
I guess... make the tip flat/curved ((...I should curve it so it can be a green, too....))

Unfortunately, unless you make the fiberglass rod yourself, it's impossible to effectively curve a fiberglass core. you can try applying heat to it...but that is more likely to break the core in the process.
The only core (that I know of) that you can curve is PVC. That's done using the boiling water method. However...this makes the PVC more brittle and it will be prone to snapping at the bend. You could take some measures to reinforce your core...
Regardless, it's a pretty awesome design.
EDIT: I didn't really answer what you asked. Lul. Putting foam on your handle makes it more comfy. However, that foam will break down INSANELY fast. So, I think a solid foam handle is a bad idea.
