So, this was suggested by Geezer a while ago. I want to put it past you guys. You know how food in Khador is always really random, due to our system of "everyone bring something to throw in"?
I'm thinking for SW, we try out something a little different. Instead of everyone just bringing something, everyone who camps with Khador gives me five dollars at least one week before the event, and I buy a cache of food. This would result with: 2 dinners, 3 breakfasts, and some extra for late lunches/'dude we're hungry' moments. With a little smart shopping, I could easily feed you guys proper meals. Of course, it'd still be wise to bring your own, personal snacks.
Additionally, I'm going to try a bit more of a meal schedule for SW, rather than "I'll cook when my hungover ass feels like it".
Whatchoo think, Khador?

As I plan on being quite active event wise this season, I would be all for this idea.

I recall Geezer talking about this before. I know my opinion doesn't count for much but honestly, even then, I didn't like this idea very much.
1.) Not every meal gets made. There's usually a lunch that is missed o a breakfast that doesn't happen, etc. 2.) If you're not around for the meal, you miss it. Many people would like to be out on the field fighting vs siting around waiting for food. They probably wouldn't be thrilled with paying for food they don't get to eat and then having to spend more money on Lady Feri so they do get food. Or think of the turkey from SW. That was supposed to be our supper for the night but since it didn't work out right (which was no one's fault. It was a trial and error learning experience.) not many got to eat any of it. 3.) Trying to get everyone to agree on meals could be a real pain in the butt. You would need to inform people what you're getting with their money and stick with it...and with it being their money, they'd have to agree to it as well.
I recall for the first few events I attended, there was a list of needed food that would go up a while before the event and then people would say what they're bringing and they brought it. That worked quite well. And of course, everyone still put in their fair share. Not sure why that stopped since it seemed to be good system that worked well.

We do this for the Northern Alliance...breakfast always happens, and its super easy, whole wheat wraps with dirty eggs, bacon and cheese in them...its takes like 20 mins before weapons check to do...super simple....

I like it; but as a point lunch should be something that can be made on an individual basis or a soup/stew that can be kept warm and dished out as people want it

Valid concerns, but I see it like this: Getting people to agree on food isn't much of an issue. More times than not, everyone's happy with what I make. I think I've established that I know what I'm doing well enough to be trusted in this. The turkey was an experience and, while it did work out okay, it could have gone smoother. There's always learning experiences with trying something new like that. If we did anything similar to this again, I would have a much better idea of the best ways to do it. As for not being there, you miss the meal...there isn't a whole lot that can be done to avoid that. If you're not present, I can't feed you. A bit of a schedule would help with that. The "hey guys, bring this stuff for me" does work. But even then, it's still very random. Trying this out would negate the "who's bringing this' variable.

Bump for more input. Also, to note: This only applies if you camp with Khador. If you plan to camp with your unit, you do not have to contribute to the food cache, regardless if we do the five dollar idea or stick to the 'bring me stuff' method.
Exception to the above is if you don't plan on camping with Khador, but really want to eat with Khador.

again, il contribute either way. its always nice to have meals. i mean we could have a list of whats needed for set meals and have certain people bring what needs to be done. i think that was suggested somewhere. one way or another thougih, il help out whenever necessary.

Blue: The method of "Hey guys, here's what I want you to bring" is what we've done in the past. It does work, but at the same time, it can be irritating.
Antoinette: absolutely.

Just a reminder, if we go with the people throw in money and food is purchased before hand, my stepdad does food markets and grows a tons of vegetables. Both my dad and stepdad hunt so buying meat from them may be an option too but vegetables definitely are doable. Fresh veggies at lower than store prices.

I'm probably not going to do a boatload of cooking in Khador Kamp this event. I don't want to make it every man for himself, but I guess sticking to the 'bring stuff' rule as usual will work out best.
Unless everyone wants to just feed themselves this event. Whatever works.
