How about instead of Desert Bus we get on bikes or do a 5k run/walk benefit? Or how about "for every pound lost we donate X amount of dollars to Khador" for those who need the extra motivation to lose weight?

Because more than 1 person has mentioned a bikeathon I would like to see if there is a feasible way for us to do this. Also how many ppl would be willing to participate?

Agreeing with Skittles. I won't be fighting it that the case and neither will many others. It's darn near "punishing" people who don't have weapons and it's not exactly people's fault that they don't have their own gear always. Also yeah, it's going to turn away people from trying this out.
Thank you Geezer for acknowledging that. Seriously, gives me some faith back that was lost.

Most of the standard fundraisers probably wont work for us unless we finagle the phrasing of what we do; I mean who would you donate to 1. a group that recreates medieval combat with foam weapons or 2. a group that teaches how to build repair and maintain your gear/garb as well as teaching how to work in a group to accomplish a goal while maintaining honesty and respect for others
Both are true to a degree but the difference is in the way we present ourselves

So I proposed an Idea. A Zeldathon..wherein we play through the zelda console series(Minus CDI and raise money. I've seen it done with the Mother series..and it proceeded a charity for like 20,000 not as much as desert bus but still something.
When organizing a charity event you need to really look into how to do it. Get peoples attention and such other things.
I'm pretty good at that whole PR thing..so if in's you need my help with that let me know.

Simple we get a capture card, and we set up a camcorder to watch the person who scehduled to play. Then we set up a livestream account and we have people interact with the crowd..while he plays to ask questions and all that...glorious stuff. It's basically like a live play through.

Well, yeah, that part isn't too hard to figure out. I mean, how to set it up to look better than "pay us to play video games." At least, in Desert Bus for Khador, it's an exceptionally bad video game. Semantics, man, that's what it's all about.
To step into the Bikeathon, this is something I would like to see happen.

Even if I had a bike anymore...I would not participate in a bikeathon....my brother was maimed on a bike and a cousin was killed on one...

After giving this some though I'm not sure how well a bike-a-thon would work. With today's economy the charity's that have these things ( bike-a-thons, walk-a-thons, etc) have expressed that they are not getting the imput that they normally do. I,m not out right saying no to this but am not sure if we would make enough to make it worth our time.A thought I have had is chocolate sales (as the schools do it ). If I,m not mistaken a box cost about $25 and sells for $1 per bar (with 50 in the box). if enough people were to be willing to take to their place of employment (or whatever) we could make a tidy sum from this as they practically sell themselves. Your thought on this.

I think it is a great idea for several reasons 1. Who doesn't like chocolate 2. People are familiar with the concept 3.WHO DOESN'T LIKE CHOCOLATE

Ya know, this could work out pretty well, perhaps. Depends on who'd be willing to get in on it. Additionally: Picture related.
