Ok folks, as I said during elections a healthy realm fund is a must. I have ideas that I will talking to the other officers about, but I am not the only person with ideas on how to raise money for the realm. Everyone has ideas and I want to hear them. Post them here or message me. All serious ideas will be considered.

Good start, Geezer. I guess here's where I'll bring out my idea.
Desert Bus for Khador.
Desert Bus is a mini-game on the unreleased Sega CD title: Penn and Teller's Smoke and Mirrors. It's a driect satire to Janet Reno, who said video games were too violent and they should be based on real life.
In Desert Bus, you play a bus driver you has to drive from Tuscon, AZ to Las Vegas. It's a 320 mile trip, you cannot drive over 45 miles per hour and it's all done in REAL TIME. It takes, literally, EIGHT HOURS to make the trip. Straight stretch of desert road, no stops, no turns, no nothing. And when you make it to Lad Vegas, you get 1 point. Then you can turn around and drive the bus back to Tuscon.
You can't just tape down the gas button, either. The bus has a pull to the right, so if you go off the road, you will get stuck in the sand and towed back to Tuscon, in real time.
A Charity, Desert Bus for Hope, does this exact thing for Child's Play. With their help, the charity brought in 220,000 dollars this year.
I propose for Desert Bus for Khador. We slather all over the internet that for every X amount of money we get (for the sake of conversation, we'll say 100 dollars), we will make one full 8 hour trip in Desert Bus. We would have to set up gaming shifts, and we would be playing practically 24 hours a day until we make the pledged amount of trips. 1,000 dollars would mean a solid TEN TRIPS, which is EIGHTY HOURS of gameplay.
How do we prove it? We set it up and Livestream it. Desert Bus for Hope and shows like Jackass are successful for one reason. people love to watch people do things that suck. With enough advertisement on the internet (facebook, national boards, youtube, etc) we could seriously bring in some money with this idea.
Heck, we can do one better and donate half the proceeds to Belegarth, too.

Another idea, Griff pitched it past me Sunday after practice.
Griff is currently in his apprenticeship for Tattooing. He mentioned that, eventually, he could set up shop and actually do tattoos at events. Now, as much as I liked the idea, I suggested he start with Henna and Bodypaint before going full on with tattoos. The only people who do this sort of thing is WarPaint and as far as I know they only go to Okfest.
Griff said he would donate the majority of what he makes to Khador and I told him Khador would absolutely help fund this if we got positive feedback. What do you guys think about that?

All I saw was the words "Desert Bus" and I instantly veto that. I don't even care what the rest of that post says. lol.
And the painting stuff, I'm a fan of it. Tattooing at events, I don't see how that can be a good idea or how to keep things sanitary? How about he passes out business cards and if they get tattood at his shop with that particular business card, then x percentage of the cost of that tattoo goes to Khador.

Premier powers activate! Your veto is vetoed, until there is more feedback on the idea.
Griff was telling me about how to keep things sanitary. Disposable tubes and such like that? I don't know all the technical tattoo jargon, he could explain much better than I.

Well, once we establish our loaner pool, and they are all properly marked, charge a dollar, for the use of any of the equipment marked loaner. that would contribute back to the coffers as well as going towards maintenance of said loaner gear.

This is an idea we've brought up before and I've honestly always liked it. I think I might of been the one who first pitched it a couple years ago. At the same time though, I'm a little weary on charging to use loaner gear. Belegarth costs as much as one is willing to put into it, that's always been kind of the spirit of the sport. Lets get some more feedback on this one.

I'm shooting for the first big build day to be sometime in the area of the 3rd weekend of January. This may be sooner.
We're going to do this in 4 or so installments. We're going to have a LOT of gear to crank out. What I'm going to need for manpower is 3 - 4 guys who know their way around foam, then I'll need anyone and everyone who wants to learn how to foamsmith. These builds won't be only for cranking out our loaner pile, but also to be a hands-on teaching tool for our guys who want to learn how to foamsmith.
But to get back on topic.
The bake sale is a great idea and I've wanted to do one of them for a long long time. If nothing else, maybe we could set up a booth at a farmer's marker and sell baked goods and various other things.
I've also liked the idea of having a car wash.

car washes only work for high school cheerleaders and church groups so unless we got a cheer squad we could brainwash (not an amazing feat) i dont see this working to well
Bake sale might work especially with some of the cooking skills we have in our realm

Unfortuntaly Saxavarius is right, you sadly need cheerleaders to make a car wash work, people just don't want "nerds" washing their cars...but bake sales rule

No go on the car wash idea. Got it. Update: The state of Illinois won't give people licenses to do tattoos at festivals and such, so that will be a no-go. However, the henna/bodypaint could still happen.
I'm still really liking Desert Bus for Khador.

Thanks for checking that out Ironside, We certainly don't what any legal issues so no tattooing. Bake sale seems to be a popular idea, does anyone know were this could take place? Personally, I'm iffy on the charge to use thing, but would like to hear what ppl have to say. Remember we hope a lot of these sell so any "rent money" would slow down and stop as the weapons are sold off. It has been suggested to me that a donation can could be put up at practice and people could throw in whatever/whenever they wanted to, but again I would like to hear more imput from everyone on that as well.

Just putting this out there. Charging for loaner gear is a HORRIBLE idea. We did that out here for a summer, like June and July, and lost 95% of our newbies. We even explained to them why we had to do it. They just didnt want to or couldnt come up with the cash. August came around and we took the charges off and only got a few people back.
Iv always been one to say "if your gonna fight, get your own shit" but if people dont have the money to buy a 15$ sword and 40$ shield. They wont pay a dollar a practice to use someone's gear.
Idk if yall have a bank account set up or what. Im sure you do, if not get one. And have another officer as a "custodian" to ensure safety.
Hold some mini-events during the "dry season". Sell things online and have it direct deposited into the bank account. Bake sale is a great idea. I suggest holding it around a church. Have Kara and the girls run it, guys tend to be a lil intimidating. Ask a few churches if you can hold a lunch-in or dinner in which you cook for the congregation and charge 5-10 bucks for home-made soup or salad, entre, and desert. Dont tell them its for a mid-evil combat society, just say its for a historic re-enactment group thats trying to bring everyone together in the community and keep kids active and educated.
The tattoo thing may not be the best. I wouldnt want my new ink getting hit and having it bruise the ink into a blotched mess.
Pump out some chain-mail and garb and hold a tourney at SW. 1-5$ entry. random hat weapons. and depending on how many people you get signed up go from top three to top 5 winners get something accordingly. Sell the rest while your there. "aquire" some golf flag poles and spend some money on sword fries and make some quick swords to sell. 10$ a sword would bring you a profit.

Sounds like the bake sale is the hit idea.
I'm glad to hear Dunharrow tried the loaner gear charge. I think that will put the nail in that coffin.
We should absolutely think about doing a wild card tournament at an event. I plan for sometime when the new season starts doing a wild card at practice with some supersick prizes.
Thanks for your two cents, Skittles. You win a Kookie.
