Hey everyone, I'm Alex, I came to my first practice yesterday, and it was amazing, I've heard alot about you guys from Ian, who also invited me, I hope to eventually meet all of you.
Thanks for being awesome.
"Hmm, needs more glaive..." Alex
EDIT: I originally didn't know Ian's fighting name, he's Drakken if there is any confusion.

Well sorry I missed ya. Hope there were enough loaners last weekend.
Get some garb together and we can throw you headlong into the sport. Saturday is a decent sized mini event up in Madison.

Wow, hey thanks guys.
I'm actually going to be in Madison on Saturday to visit an aunt..though I really don't want to.
I much prefer to kick ass with you guys lol. but I won't be able to. Though I will most definitely be at the next practice.
Also yes Kracken there were enough loaners, Griff, Drakken, Seralay (sp?) and Quarian were there so it was a good time.
oh also Kracken, I've heard a ton about you, as well as Ironside, so I hope to meet you guys soon or at next practice.
also I assume concidering the Saturday event there will be no practice on Sunday? or am I wrong?
I'm hoping to get some garb together soon, but it'll be a little while before I can get some extra cash to make some, though would you guys have any ideas for some crazy cheap but kick ass garb? I'm a fan of the Iron Cross, which I have on my gloves but I usually pass it for a Templar symbol. if that's useful at all.
Brooder, I hear you man, finals week sucks, my last final is this Tuesday, can't wait to be done and just chill. oh and size wise I'm usually like..medium or large for shirts, and for pants...well, you won't have any size wise, I'm like a 29 waist and 34 or 36 length, but I usually just wear a belt lol. So that can be for future reference.
Sorry for the long ass post, but alot to get worked out towards achieving..uhh, optimal..Khador..ness? yeah, let's go with that. I also want to point out that I've yet to get a name, I'm just using "Falrusio" because it's a favorite character name from D&D.
"Hey look, a machete, 'where?' *Shank* " Alex

Practices are coming on a weird schedule. Not 100% sure when the next one is but I know it's not this weekend (13th). I think we're going to try either building or making garb this sunday.

Hopefully everything you heard was horrible. That way I know they were being honest. ;D
Yeah, anytime someone mentions building, it's referring to a weapons build.

I heard Ironside has scabies. !!!!!! I'm actually going to be in Madison on Saturday to visit an aunt..though I really don't want to. Fuck you. We're your family now. Didn't you see that on the wavier you signed?!?!? In all seriousness, I'm a fan of the Iron Cross, which I have on my gloves but I usually pass it for a Templar symbol. if that's useful at all. No. Don't. Why I say this? Iron cross: Bad. Leave that to nazis and motorcycle tshirts. Templars symbol: This is not SCA. It won't work for Belegarth. Everyone who wears these are chumps, and I don't want you to fall into that category.

brooder: Well, they are the only gloves I have, they were 5 bucks, it's the only symbol I have on me at practice, really it's just 'till I get used to the whole Belegarth thing..oh and until I get money, that too, then there shall hopefully be garb and new gloves, come to think of it, what gloves would you guys suggest for Belegarth, Drakken has some sweet ass gloves. though I don't want to be a chump Brooder I'm just what you call a Broke as fuck white boy. TL;DR where can I get some cheap good gloves. what's some good patterns for Garb that are crazy cheap. also, Head Desk. "Ka-dunk" Alex

HAD. Past tense, Brooder. Those things are long cleared up. Yeah, Fal, listen to Brooder. Sporting an iron cross on your gloves isn't horrible, since you have no other suiting gloves. Just don't put a symbol like that on your garb.

Another good way to do some cheap garb. Get a polo shirt you don't wear anymore, or buy one at goodwill for a few bucks. Cut off the collar, remove the seems on the bottom and sleeves and cut off the buttons. punch a couple holes where those buttons were and run some cotton rope or thin leather through it. Instant tunic. You can add to that by making a simple tabbard to wear over it. For pants, if you don't feel like making any, do what I did. Go to goodwill and find yourself a cheap pair of sweatpants. Another option is scrub pants. You can get those at Wal-Mart for about fifteen bucks. A lot of people say scrubs are prone to blowouts, but I used a pair for two years (given they were two sizes too big for me) and never had an issue. Also, for that added durability, add a fighter's patch onto your pants. Though, in my personal opinion, skirts are better than pants any day of the week. Also consider shoes. Personally, I wear heavy work boots all the time, so they work great for fighting. That extra ankle support will do you wonders. If you don't like boots, try to find some neutral colored shoes. Fighting barefoot is also acceptable. UFC gloves are good. Lacross and Hockey mits are alright for punch blocking. QTF. I need to get some UFC/MMA gloves myself. The main reason I don't punch block very much is because, well, doing it bare handed can mess you up. At least, it does for me.

ok, so where can I get some of these gloves?
Where would you recommend to get cloth from and what kind of length?
also, for shoes I usually just wear these brown and white tennis shoes (I have 3 pairs of shoes, I have these tennis shoes, I have Doc Martin's that are have a low back, like a dress shoe, and Army issued boots from my dad that are uncomfortable and I have for a costume lol)
throw some links at me and I'll take a look and see what I can do...oh I also want to make a weapon, but that's later, just been thinking about it.
I like what Kracken posted but it makes me think of a Poncho, I'd kinda like a design for a T-shirt and some pants, so I may have to talk to Drakken come to think of it, sorta his style is what I'm thinking, but I just may add a symbol onto the front.
speaking of which, what types of symbols are alright to display, is there a specific era we're going for or specific story line, from the sounds of it "Khador" sounds like it's out of a book, and if you think I should know, then I apologize for my ignorance, I'm a fighting thinking, not a reader so much lol

khador is from Warmachine the tabletop game. If you're looking for a symbol the basic khador one would work. Paruse around the older threads on the boards, there's a bunch around about the symbols and some garb patters. Or you could try geddon.org. Anything you will ever need will be on there. QTF. I need to get some UFC/MMA gloves myself. The main reason I don't punch block very much is because, well, doing it bare handed can mess you up. At least, it does for me. when you do pushups do them on your fists.

Yeah, Renell makes some decent garb. Picking up stuff from her would be easy. Never thought to try that, Kracken. Not sure if my joints would like it.

ok, so where can I get some of these gloves? Sports stores. Dicks and MC sports etc. UFC gloves will protect the knuckles, whereas lacrosse protects the whole hand. I've used all three, and I think lacrosse works best for both protection and sport functionality (meaning, it won't reduce your performance and slow down your shots like some hockey gloves will reduce your ability to throw shots) Where would you recommend to get cloth from and what kind of length? Depends on what you want. Want baggy basterized hakamas like what Peanut and I are wearing here? 5-6 yards of high quality fabric, like trigger cloth. It's more expensive but it won't tear if sewn right and it will keep you worm when it's cold and cooler when it's hot, and it also does not absorb water well so it will help keep you dry when it's raining. And it will also last a lot longer then cheap wallmart brand. Buy it with a coupon at Jo Anns because then it will cost a lot less. I will help you sew that kind of pants up. It's not hard, just need to get the step by step process down right. Remember, keep garb easy at first. For shoes, wear whatever you're comfortable in. No one is going to push you around for being new and wearing white tennisshoes. That rule about shoes is very flexable and lax anyways. Just don't wear hobnails or cleats. Those should be banned if they aren't already IMO. When it comes to symbols, there are not any official rules. However, there are unofficial rules. If you use a symbol that a knight, unit, or realm is already using and you are not associated with them, then you will most likely be told to take it off very sternly. Failure to do so will get you sacked. Historical symbols aren't common. Belegarth isn't historical at all. It's like paintball, as that is not a real gun battle. Symobles can be anything you want. Peter's knight symbol is a ferret with a mustache, for example. And it's honestly it's the best symbol that fits him. Anyways, if you have one that you like run it by me and I will tell you wither or not it's being used. I talk to way too many people, and pretty much know everyone's symbols. Hey Falrusio, want to play a game? How about you make belt flag that has two stags eiffel towering a sword with a green and black backround and see how long it takes before anyone notices that you are not actually with them. My money is on two events. If you are holding a beer, then that will be four events. Here it is. Come on, do it. Lastly, if I recall correctly, the word Belegarth is elven for "Brooder is sexy." For realz, yo.

ok so here's the thing, now I'm wondering:
Should I man up and make my own garb even though I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing? ORRRRRRRRRRRRR Do I call Lady renell and get commission her for some garb for right now 'till I can make some of my own.
I feel that you guys might think less of me if I do, which I hope isn't the case
oh and am I taking that wrong Lady Renell? can I call you and tell you sort of a general idea? or do you just have stuff premade or whatnots.
Also, Brooder several things, first off that's a cool symbol, but who is "They" because here's the thing
I didn't know about Belegarth 'till last week so... I'm not exactly up in knowledge.
Also, do we have a specific color scheme for our..uhh, I guess it wouldn't be team, but, realm or group or other name I'm unsure of?
What's a Belt Flag?
and also I know what my symbol should be, once you said Ferret with a stache I immediately thought
Monkey with a Top Hat. This is the symbol I want, no joke, I can describe it as well.
lastly, that's a pretty cool design for the pants and whatnot, it looks pretty high quality, and like the shirt is exactly the kind of syle I want, though the pants seem like a pain in the ass and mind you I'm already completely uncoordinated so..yeah.
so, I'm leaning micheal jackson style towards Lady Renell, I'd probably make my own in the future, but since I have all of (counts availabe money) $10 that fits my budget.
Lady Renell what times are you available for calling, 'cause unless I'm coerced otherwise I'd probably call you tomorrow (Wednesday) in the afternoon, I also have trouble picking things up, since..well, I can't drive, hence my other dilemma with going around to places to get the materials during the holidays as well lol
also Brooder, I'm sure that's what it means, I mean come on, it's not like you have a bias or anything *facepalm*
Edit: I added, Brooder, Kracken, Lady Renell, and Ironside to MSN and AIM respectively, so if you have a message from either WLM: "Captbadmonkey" or AIM: "Yasha180" then that's me.
