edhellen has good stuff but sometimes they get in a hurry and the glue job is not the greatest....OR sometimes the blades JUST WEAR OUT OVER TIME....I believe that is what Brooder is alluding to.....he is being obtuse as usual...Brooder is like that....Love ya Brooder...Mwua!!

1/2" cores aren't carried at Farm and Fleet for whatever reason. That's what Edhellen uses. They're nice and weighty. I bitch about edhellen swords because I've never owned one thats lasted more than 2 events.

brooder: Sorry... i've only heard of people using blue foam for home-made stuff and little else... i'd like to make the best stuff I can.. but i'm kind of on a budget of sorts right now... *sigh* you'll have to tell me what's good for that stuff when i've had about more foamsmithing under my belt... my only successful build has been my spears.. and even those just barely pass That's fair. No need to say you're sorry. I'm just admiment about the quality of edhellen equipment versus everything else that is on the market and especially anything that is homemade. Now, edhellen has DIY kits, and those are usually what I order with good results. Also, my speedbat has survived a few practices and events, and is already living twice the length I would have originally given it. It was well worth the 40.

Brooder, you obviously have never had any Remus built equipment. That shit lasts a long time! Unless you abuse it. The only time I have seen his equipment not last long is when people try to hit like they are REALLY wanting to kill someone IRL. There are a few of those around. Even edhellen equipment doesnt last real well with them. They have to rebuild often usually. No dig to edhellen they make great equipment and I love the Kegg fries in the DIY kits to make swords. They are awesome and much more durable than camp pad foam. So yeah, if you have the scratch to purchase edhellen or their build kits then that is the best but if you are on limited budget or new to sport then blue camp pad it is in most cases..... No offense meant to you Brooder. Just what I have seen in my experience. I watched Remus build stuff enough over the years to know how to build stuff that lasts so yeah actually I believe he showed Kracken a lot of his tricks to make swords last longer when building yourself with blue foam too. The strapping tape around the core is a really good one as it helps keep the core together on the fiberglass cores and it also helps the blue foam stick to the outer portion of the strapping tape especially if you use spray glue which Remus became a big fan of later in the building game. Just sayin'

I'll second Remus-tech. That flail lasted eons before it finally needed to be rebuilt.

If you want to be able to make durable weapons with blue camp pad you need the fiberglass cores strapping tape spray glue not dap your preference for handle cover whether it be rope or clothesline blue camp pad and whatever cloth covering you want. If you have those materials you can make a very good durable sword. If you tell me where you are going to be on Tuesday I can try to make it to show you how to construct said sword.

We can talk about this more tommorow for those are at practice... and if more than ironside comes over, im capping it at about 4-5 people ((including myself)) and really??? spray glue works really well for an adhesive for the blue camping pad? I Don't have to get high on DAP FUMES? ...*cries* I might enjoy this day... anyway, we'll talk more at practice

DAP is the way to go overall. Spray glue is good on open cell foam.

But Bluff, getting high on DAP fumes is the best part of foamsmithing.

We're gonna do this at my house on tuesday, sometime after I wake up and Ironside pokes me.
im thinking sometime in the morning afternoon, but it all depends on when we wake up or not.
If you need directions to my house, send me a message and i'll give it to you through there.

Morning afternoon? Never heard of that time before.
Hehe, the "after I wake up and Ironside pokes me" makes me think bad things. Hehehehe.
Yeah, I'm out though. Got things worked out to be getting together with Renell for possible garb on Friday so. If anyone else needs some garb related things, let me know. One I have a shirt that might be best just going to a guy and two, maybe we can try to help you out as well on Friday. MAYBE. Just a thought, would have to speak with Renell. May I request, if you guys have time, to maybe work on some arrows please? Get your stuff done first. It just seems like it would be a good idea to have more than two arrows within all of Khador.
